#24 Edward Wilfred Webb
Birth 24th January 1890 in Eaton, Appleton, Abingdon district, Berkshire, England. The GRO digitised index shows no mother's maiden name, implying that Edward was born out of wedlock. He was baptised on 26th March 1890 at Holy Trinity, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. The baptism originally showed his father as being called Edward and what looks like 'deceased' in the occupation column, but this information has been crossed through at a later stage and 'single woman' has been written in the occupation column instead. birth record (freeBMD) baptism record (ancestry) [Edward's exact birthdate is taken from the baptism record, the 1939 register and the death record. The Holy Trinity Church, where Edward was baptised, no longer exists, but was roughly here].

Residences
26th March 1890 - According to Edward's baptism record their abode was 40 Black Friars Road.
5th April 1891 Census - Edward was a 1 year old born in Appleton, Berks and was living at Bessels Leigh Road, Eaton, Appleton, Abingdon, Berkshire. He was recorded as the son of carpenter George Webb, who was actually his maternal grandfather, so I very much hope he was not also his father! He was living with George and his wife Ann Webb, and their children John Webb, Louisa M Webb and Leah Webb, as well as visitors Sarah A Beecham and Gertrude A Beecham (actually George's daughter and granddaughter, but not recorded as such for some reason). 1891 census (familysearch) or 1891 census (ancestry)
31st March 1901 Census - Edward W was an 11 year-old born in Eaton, Berks, who was living in Eaton, Appleton, Berkshire, England and was attending school. He was recorded as the nephew of carpenter George Webb [nephew used to mean grandson, which was his real relationship to George, so maybe that was what was meant here]. He was living with George and his wife Ann Webb, and their children John Webb and Louisa Webb. 1901 census (familysearch) or 1901 census (ancestry)
2nd April 1911 Census - Edward was a single 21 year-old joiner who was a boarder at 15 Hurst Grove, Bedford, Bedfordshire, England, the home of gardener domestic James Biggs, James' family and three other boarders who were all in the carpentry trade. 1911 census (familysearch) or 1911 census (ancestry)
29th September 1939 Register - Edward was a married railway carpenter, and living at 67 Gladstone Street, Swindon, Wiltshire, England, with May Webb and Ruth M Webb (later Crayford) and one individual who's details are yet to be unlocked. 1939 register (findmypast) [Note that on Findmypast's database the surname Webb has been mistranscribed as Debb, and the surname Crayford as Grayford].
15th February 1978 - According to the probate record Edward was of 67 Gladstone Street, Swindon at the time of his death.
Edward worked for the GWR, as mentioned in an article in the Swindon Advertiser about his son Eric, see here.
